The majority of high school and college-level students have a hard time with science, and it isn't because they aren't smart. It's because they don't have the tools and strategies needed to succeed in these courses. I have been a chemistry and biology tutor for 7 years, and have lots of experience in helping struggling students gain confidence and improve their grades dramatically. With so many years of experience, I am able to predict what might be on biology and chemistry exams. I work through high-yield practice problems with students, and help them focus on the material that is important. I am easy mannered and patient, and I help students to gain the critical thinking skills that result in them getting A's in these hard classes. Not only do my students show improvements in grades, they actually learn to enjoy even the toughest of subjects.
In addition to my 7 years of tutoring chemistry and biology, I also recently started tutoring for the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT). I am a previous medical school student who is currently considering returning to medical school after many years of introspection. I have a lot of insight into the type of critical thinking that is tested on the MCAT, since I was in medical school in the past and currently study the MCAT material/strategy daily. I am able to tutor all areas of the MCAT, so feel free to ask me about that if you are interested!
Whether you are looking for someone to help with high school or college-level Biology (including Biochemistry), Chemistry (General or Organic, lab or lecture), or MCAT preparation, I can confidently say that I am qualified to help you understand this material. I have won the "Top 10% Wyzant Tutor" award through Wyzant for the past two years in a row, and have a great track record in helping students get their desired grades. If you have read this profile and believe that I may be a good fit for your needs, I would love to hear from you!
Sincerely,
Cara Bruzan
